Spalted beech Frames

Spalting is when the timber is left exposed in order for natural funghi's to penetrate the wood.  This results in unusual and sometimes stunning patterns to appear in the grain.  I find it's usually a bit to 'busy' for picture frames and in most cases will distract from the image.  It works very well for mirror frames, however.  I currently have two pieces of Spealted Beech.
